Overview
Its tiny leaves make a fresh green lawn, finer than Glossostigma elatinoides and usually slower to take over the tank. It is valued for the foreground of small aquariums but can also form a large sheet in a spacious tank. Wild populations live in European and Asian aquatic habitats.

Growing in the aquarium
It is demanding and needs strong light, without the carpet being hidden under taller plants. Propagation by fragments lets you fill thin patches. The identity of aquarium strains has been debated in the source: related Elatine can look alike, and a sure identification sometimes needs flowers and fruit.
