Overview
Rounded leaves with scalloped edges line its green, angular stems. When crushed they smell of mint. This American plant has sometimes been sold as Lindernia anagallis. Underwater it grows mostly upright, with rather few side branches.

An aquarium plant must never reach the wild: throwing away cuttings or emptying a tank into a stream can be enough to establish it.

Growing in the aquarium
Place the stems in the midground or background depending on the height you want. Good light supports its growth and cuttings let you thicken the group. Its emersed form is more creeping: a plant received from land culture may therefore look different from how it will grow in the aquarium.
