Overview
Described in 2009 by the Singaporean ichthyologist Tan Heok Hui, this rasbora is named after Patrick Yap. It measures up to 5.7 cm without the tail.
It belongs to the family Danionidae (subfamily Rasborinae). The IUCN lists it as near threatened, because of the rapid decline of Borneo's peat forests.

Natural habitat
Katingan and Kahayan river basins, Central Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia)
Observations (GBIF) and localities Native countries Rivers and lakes
It is known only from the Katingan and Kahayan river basins, in Central Kalimantan. It lives in the shallow, slow swampy areas bordering blackwater streams.
Its habitats are lowland peat forests and degraded heath forests (kerangas), over a mixed bottom of peat and silica sand. The water there is very soft and acidic.
Behaviour
Like most rasboras, it is a peaceful midwater fish that lives in a shoal: it is kept in a group of at least ten, with calm species of similar size.
Its needs reflect its habitat: soft, acidic water, dim light, decor of wood and dead leaves. Reference sources do not yet describe its behaviour in detail.
