Overview
The very tightly packed foliage of this Mayaca makes fine shoots, more compact than those of Mayaca fluviatilis. Its name was wrongly applied to Rotala sp. “Nanjenshan”, which explains some of the confusion. In the true Mayaca the leaves are alternate and close to the stem, instead of being arranged in whorls.

The profile describes it as demanding under strong light, propagated by cuttings. Detailed experience remains scarce in the source consulted. First check the plant's identity: advice given for a Rotala “Nanjenshan” does not necessarily describe the plant received under the Mayaca sellowiana label.
