Overview
Its narrow leaves and many branches make a fine stand with red and golden hues. This Ludwigia from the southeastern United States contrasts well with a dark background or small-leaved green plants. It looks very much like Ludwigia brevipes, sometimes sold under the same name.

Growing in the aquarium
Provide enough light and a steady supply of nutrients, especially trace elements to support the colours. CO₂ is not essential to grow it. Replant the tops and side shoots to thicken the group. The submerged forms look so alike that the emersed flowers are useful to tell L. arcuata from L. brevipes.
