Overview
This small plant of European lake shores spreads by runners. In the wild it mostly grows on sandy bottoms in clear water that is poor in nutrients and lime. Its very slow underwater growth gives a planting that stays discreet for a long time, far from the ground covers that close the foreground in a few weeks.

Growing in the aquarium
Provide enough light and plenty of patience while the plants spread. The young plants from the runners fill in the gaps. Respect the parameters given for this entry without assuming that heavy feeding will necessarily speed it up: its natural habitat and slow pace call for a measured approach.
