Overview
Its habit mixes that of a stem plant and a rosette: tufts of fine leaves appear at regular intervals along the shoots. Green under moderate light, this rush can take on reddish tones with more light and good feeding. It brings a grassy texture to the stand.

Growing in the aquarium
It accepts several light levels and its steady growth stays fairly easy to control. Replant a piece of stem cut below a tuft of leaves; it does not need to have roots already. Trimming lets you use it at the back, in the middle or even lower in the tank. Watch for spot algae on its long-lived leaves.
