Overview
This small creeping plant naturally colonises bare ground in ponds, shallow streams and rice fields that dry out from time to time. Its range is very wide, from temperate regions to the tropics. Its low habit suits foreground planting rather than a background stand.

An aquarium plant must never reach the wild: throwing away cuttings or emptying a tank into a stream can be enough to establish it.

Growing in the aquarium
Provide medium to strong light for this carpeting plant. Fragments let you multiply the planting and fill gaps. Plants in the trade may come from Asia, but their exact origin is uncertain. Do not mistake the conditions of its seasonal habitat for a need to let the carpet dry out in the aquarium.
