Overview
Formerly circulated as Rotala sp. “Araguaia”, this small stem plant comes from Brazil. Underwater, the upper side of the leaves turns a strong red, sometimes flecked with green; out of water the foliage stays green and the plant grows taller. It makes a fairly delicate colour accent.

Growing in the aquarium
Provide strong light to bring out the colour and soft water suited to a demanding plant. It is propagated by tip cuttings or side shoots. Detailed growing reports remain limited: watch how it takes and adjust feeding rather than expecting it to behave like a Rotala just because it once bore that name.
