Overview
This very fine-leaved Cabomba brings red and pink tones to the middle or back of the tank. It comes from slow waters of Central and South America. Its colour is appealing, but it needs more careful conditions than common stem plants.

An aquarium plant must never reach the wild: throwing away cuttings or emptying a tank into a stream can be enough to establish it.

Growing in the aquarium
Strong lighting, CO₂ and a steady supply of nutrients are essential for good growth. Deficiencies can slow the shoots, lengthen the internodes and darken the leaves. A nutrient-rich substrate can help. Propagate by tip cuttings and trim regularly once the stand is established; it cannot be grown emersed.
