Overview

Its submerged leaves split into a multitude of fine segments, like wide fans. This South American Cabomba comes in several colours; the green form is the most common in the trade. When the shoots reach the surface, they can bear round floating leaves and yellow flowers.

An aquarium plant must never reach the wild: throwing away cuttings or emptying a tank into a stream can be enough to establish it.

Growing in the aquarium

Plant the stems in the background with enough light to keep the stand vigorous. It is rated difficult and needs regular attention to the state of the shoots. Cuttings let you renew the group. Allow for height and space: the leaves can be much wider than those of other Cabomba.
