Overview
Long leaves with wavy edges give this plant from Sri Lanka a supple, voluminous outline. In nature it lives in seasonal pools, but in the aquarium it can keep growing without an enforced rest. It flowers readily and suits planting alone or in a group in the background.

Growing in the aquarium
Set aside a fairly large tank: the leaves can reach the surface and shade their neighbours. A nutrient-rich substrate and enough light help it grow; added CO₂ is not essential. Remove damaged leaves at their base. It is propagated by division or by seed.
