Overview
Native to the tropical wetlands of Africa and Madagascar, this plant is also known as Nesaea crassicaulis. Its tones range from yellowish green to pale red. It looks very much like Ammannia gracilis, usually redder, and the two are often confused in the trade.

An aquarium plant must never reach the wild: throwing away cuttings or emptying a tank into a stream can be enough to establish it.

Growing in the aquarium
It needs strong lighting and rather soft water, in a tank suited to demanding plants. Cuttings are used to fill out a group of stems. Check the identity of a plant bought as Nesaea: the source notes that many plants sold under that name are actually Ammannia gracilis.
