Overview
This American plant can form a small rosette or upright shoots, with leaves that are sometimes entire and toothed, sometimes deeply cut. Its look depends on the growing conditions. It stays fairly low underwater and offers the foreground foliage different from that of lawn-forming plants.

Growing in the aquarium
Moderately cool water, medium to strong light and a nutrient-rich substrate suit it. Growth is very slow, even in good conditions. Young plants can form on detached leaves left floating, which lets you propagate it. Do not confuse this method with the quick rooting of a classic stem cutting.
