Overview
This pondweed from southern South America grows fine rhizomes in the substrate, from which rise stems with long, narrow leaves. Supple and translucent, they range from green to orange-brown depending on the light. The shoots can grow tall, giving light but voluminous background vegetation.

Growing in the aquarium
Allow room for this hardy, fast-growing plant. Medium to strong light is given. Separating offshoots and cuttings let you renew the planting. Its growth is not limited to the visible stems: the branching rhizomes can spread the group through the substrate.
